New Kitchen!

I know I just posted these on Facebook, but I just wanted to put them here too to look back on later.  I also tried to lighten them up, because they were too dark on Facebook.  I meant to do that before I posted, but I just got too excited and forgot.  So, here she is!

I know some of you fine folks preferred the original cabinets.  I apologize, but it just had to be done! Ha!  They really do look better in the picture than they did in real life.  They were worn out.

I love the island!  So nice to be able to spread out while you cook!  It will be even nicer when we get some stools!

Joel still needs to put grout on the backsplash.  He did the left wall but not the right.  You can't tell in the picture, but you can in real life.  Also, the island still needs to be painted.  Most of it is only primed.  And eventually we'd like to get some new lighting above the island and maybe even some can lighting...we like to dream.  My favorite features of our new kitchen are the island, the pantry, the countertops, the trim around the door and window, the white cabinets, and the ice maker in our fridge. Ha! So pretty much everything!  I still need to add some decorations of some sort...pops of color you might say.  We could also use a new plant.  That one in the corner has seen better days!  So, there ya have it!

In case you are wondering, Anna Kate is wearing a leash.  Lydia walks her around the house like a dog.  Strange but true!

My iPad got dropped and was out of commission for quite sometime, but it miraculously came back to life!  I found this picture on it. Ha! 

I've been trying to get my house in some type of order and semi clean to prepare for Anna Kate's party on Saturday.  Here's my inspiration.

It won't look anything like that, I can guarantee that!  But a girl can dream. :) We are getting new countertops on Friday, just in time for the party, so that should be exciting...and maybe they will distract the guests from the rest of our unfinished home.  So much to do, so little time!

Happy Birthday, Anna Kate!

We had a great time celebrating Anna Kate today!

We started out the day with birthday muffins, complete with toothpicks as candles!

Lydia picked out and bought a present for her sister.  She was so excited to give it to her!

It was a set of Minnie Mouse dominoes that she loves to play with at the library every week.

We partied all day long!  She got a few small presents throughout the day, one when her daddy got home from work, and one at her dinner party.  We like to spread out the cheer!  I kept hearing her quietly singing the happy birthday song to herself.  So cute!  She was loving it!  Then Heather came over to wrap up the fun by bringing a special cake for the birthday girl!  Anna Kate loved it and even stood up and danced when she finished.  She was so excited!  We are so happy our sweet Anna Kate is TWO!  She was a very laid back baby, but boy oh boy, she has cried a lot this past year.  A lot!  Here's to hoping this year of life will be a little bit quieter than the last!  But she really is a good, sweet girlie!  We love her SO much!  Happy birthday, Anna Kate!!!
