First Day of Summer!

Yesterday we went to school for the last time to pick up the girls’ report cards. Then we went and got donuts for breakfast to celebrate our first official day of summer break! As we were driving home, I thought we might as well continue the celebration at the playground. The boys got super dirty, but we had a great time! Hurray for summer!!!

Ordinary Day!

Hello! Since the school year is coming to a close, I thought I would write up what a normal day looks like around here before I forget! So here goes nothing! Most mornings my alarm goes off at 7:00. I don’t like to get up before that hour! At about 7:15 (I like to wait until the last minute), I wake up the girls. Lydia is almost always still asleep. Anna Kate is almost always already awake! They get dressed and brush their teeth, while I quickly do their hair. Lydia usually wants a little hair pulled to the side with a bow (classic), while Anna Kate loves a side pony tail…especially since it’s started getting hot outside. She says it keeps the hair off her neck. Haha Lydia fills up both of their water bottles for the day. Anna Kate gets Benjamin out of his crib, usually while riding her hover board. Steven wakes up at some point during all this running around. An alarm goes off at 7:40 which means it’s time to grab a granola bar or muffins (I am a major slacker in the breakfast department!) and jump in the van. Then I strap the boys in and hope and pray that the van will start. (It has troubles turning on sometimes. The mechanic can’t figure out why.) We drive to school and usually listen to Slugs and Bugs or the Jungle Book musical CD. When we get to school, the girls jump out of the van and walk into school holding hands. It’s super sweet! Lydia walks Anna Kate to the 1st grade hall, and I’ve been told she hugs her and kisses her on the head every morning before they part ways. Then the boys and I head home. About once a week we head to Walmart to pick up groceries. We rarely go inside a store together anymore. Too hard! We spend most of the morning doing household chores and playing in the boys’ bedrooms. Benjamin also loves to empty drawers and make messes all over the house to keep me nice and busy. We eat lunch around 11:30. Benjamin loves hot dogs the most, and Steven loves sandwiches or tuna and crackers. At about 12:15, Benjamin goes down for his nap. Then Steven plays on the computer or watches a show while I enjoy some peace and quiet! It’s definitely one of my favorite times of the day! Lately I’ve been snuggling under a blanket and reading a book for a bit. So nice! After a little rest time, I try to get the house cleaned up and dinner semi prepared (on a good day). At 2:45, we load up the van and go pick up the girls from school! The days go by pretty quickly! On Mondays we had Bible Club right after school and took our friend Caroline along with us. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, Lydia had chorus or Jungle Book practices.
On Wednesdays, we went to a church dinner at 5:15, choir practice at 5:40, and AWANA at 6:30. The boys and I would head home and get ready for bed while Joel and the girls were at AWANA. On Thursdays both girls had ballet practice, and Jessica and I would walk around downtown to get our steps in. (I’m on a 142 day step streak of getting at least 10,000 steps each day!) And on the weekends we would relax or go to a family party of some sort. Seems like we’re always partying around here! Oh and then bedtime, since I’m sure you’re wanting some more important details (haha), we get the boys ready around 7. Joel usually puts Benjamin to bed at 7:15, and I put Steven to bed at 7:30. Meanwhile, the girls get themselves ready for bed, and Joel puts them to sleep by 8 (on a good night). Oh and right now Joel goes to work at 6 and gets home at 3:45. So there ya have it! An ordinary day at the ol Habermas house!

Teacher Gifts!

The girls took presents to their teachers today. Donuts to their extra teachers and flowers to their main teachers. I’m not sure why I thought it’d be a good idea to send all that on the same day. Caroline had to come help the girls get it all in the school. Only two more days of school left! Wahhh! It’s always sad to me when a school year ends. And that one went by super quick! Here’s hoping that the summer will go nice and slow!

End of the School Year Fun!

The girls have been having one party right after another at school! Pizza parties, ice cream parties, slushies,  bowling field trip…and there is still more fun ahead! I don’t know about them, but I’m exhausted! Haha. It’s hard keeping track of everything going on. I can’t imagine what it will be like when all four are in school! Ahhh! Let’s not even think about that right now.  Ha!

Anna Kate got to make a bird feeder, because her class has been learning about birds. It was a toilet paper tube with peanut butter and seeds on it. So she came home and hung it on a tree branch. The next morning, the whole tube was completely gone! Some animal must have carried it off. Sorry birds!
